Privacy Policy

Skinwise (operated by SkinGuard LLC) · Last updated: July 2, 2026 · Contact: skin.guard.llc@gmail.com

Summary in plain words: Your skin photos are analyzed and never stored on our servers. Your scan results, care plans, and health profile stay on your device. We store only your account basics (email, name, hashed password) so you can sign in. We never sell your data, we show no ads, and you can delete everything at any time — in the app or at our account deletion page.

1. Who we are

Skinwise is an educational skin-health and skincare-product information app operated by SkinGuard LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("we," "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. Washington, Nevada, and Connecticut residents: our separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy also applies to you.

2. Artificial intelligence disclosure

Skinwise uses artificial intelligence. When you submit a skin photo, a product photo, or a message to the in-app advisor, you are interacting with an AI system (a large language model operated by Anthropic, PBC) that generates the analysis and responses you see. We tell you this clearly because we believe you should always know when AI — not a person — is producing information about your health.

What this means for you:

We do not collect advertising identifiers, we do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, and the app contains no ads.

4. Biometric information

Skinwise does not collect or use biometric identifiers. Photos are analyzed for skin characteristics for educational purposes only; we do not perform facial recognition, do not generate face geometry, fingerprints, voiceprints, or any other biometric identifier, and never use photos to identify who you are. Nothing in the app identifies a specific individual from an image.

5. Who receives data (service providers)

We share data only with the service providers required to run the app, and only the minimum needed:

We do not sell or rent your personal information, we do not share it for advertising, and we have not done so in the past 12 months. We have no "affiliates" that receive your data.

6. Your rights and choices

We respond to verified requests within 45 days. We never discriminate against you for exercising any right.

State-specific rights

Texas (TDPSA), California (CCPA/CPRA), and other state privacy laws: residents may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of sale/sharing/targeted advertising. We do not sell or share personal data for advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of; all other rights are honored through the channels above. California residents: the categories collected are identifiers (email, name) and, on-device only, health-related information; sources: you; purpose: providing the service; disclosure: service providers listed above only.

Washington, Nevada, Connecticut (consumer health data): see our standalone Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy, which governs the collection and sharing of consumer health data, your opt-in consent, and how to exercise health-data rights.

European Economic Area / UK (GDPR): if you use the app there, our legal bases are contract (providing the service you request) and consent (photos, location). You additionally have rights to restriction and objection and may lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Data is processed in the United States; we rely on our providers' standard contractual clauses for transfers.

7. Security

All traffic is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS). Passwords are stored only as salted PBKDF2 hashes. Sessions use signed, expiring tokens. Sign-in is protected by rate limiting and automatic lockout after repeated failures. Photos are never written to server storage or logs. Health content stays on your device. No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affecting your data ever occurs, we will notify you and regulators as required by law, including the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule.

8. Children

Skinwise is intended for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Data retention

Account records are kept until you delete your account. Photos are not retained on servers at all. On-device data persists until you delete it, delete your account, or uninstall the app. Server-side rate-limit and lockout counters expire automatically within minutes.

10. Changes

We will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app before material changes take effect. Material changes affecting health data will require your renewed consent.
